Back to Our Roots
We're back! The reunion was scheduled for June 2020 but we all know how that went. We decided to reschedule in Estes Park and took the open dates-- June 23-26 in 2021. We're paring down costs by eating together and renting space at the YMCA, which is affordable for everyone. We have a lodge with a full kitchen where we can take turns on cooking/cleanup teams. The Reunion fund will buy the groceries and the Reunion Lodge will be a central point for all family to meet, stocked with plenty of food, snacks and soft drinks for the gathering. We recall the gatherings that Dolly Rainford started (in 1938) so all her descendants would get to know one another--fun times, good cooking and strong friendships. We have a large BBQ grill and picnic table outside and a campfire ring We can't actually check-in until 6 pm on Wed (23), but they said we are welcome to come and join Estes Park activities that are free for us any time that day. The reunion ends on Saturday morning (26) - check-out by 10 am.
Wednesday June 23– dinner at the Lodge. Dinner is our traditional welcome night with lots of mixing and introductions. After dinner we have the elder gathering with our aunts Diane, Darlene and Delaine.
Thursday June 24 – Main reunion day; meals at the Lodge. A welcome kit for each family. Games, family ancestor photos, the traditional Cornhole competition, volleyball. Hanging out, passing babies, meeting cousins,.
Friday June 25 – Meals at the Lodge. Enjoy this world-class resort at the foot of the Rockies with newfound cousins. LINK Enjoy tennis, a fitness track, sand volleyball, basketball, softball, horseshoes, soccer, 18-hole disc golf course, indoor swimming, horse riding. In the afternoon the whitewater rafting group goes from 12-6 pm. Saturday morning is checkout; breakfast is cold cereal since we have to be out of the lodge by 10:00am.
